  • The Thrilla in Manila was the third and final boxing match between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. It was contested in 1975 for the heavyweight championship of the world in the Philiippines, on Wednesday, October 1.  The contest's name is derived from the frequent rhyming boast made by Ali that the fight would be a "killa and a thrilla and a chilla, when I get that gorilla in Manila."   • Larry Holmes vs. Jerry Cooney was a boxing match that took place on June 11, 1982. It was one of the most highly anticipated fights of the early 1980s. This original artwork by LeRoy Neiman depicts Jerry Cooney draped on the ropes after Larry Holmes decimated him with nine straight rights, and Holmes went on to win the highly promoted fight.
